Urban Railway Düsseldorf 'Wehrhahn-Line'

Project planning, structural planning and consulting for the client

In the city centre of Düsseldorf the public rail transportation network is being expanded, and the surroundings receive an upgrade by the underground route of the railbound trains. For this, new construction of an approx. 3.400 m long city railway line with 6 underground stations and 2 stations above ground in the inner-city area takes place.

The track sections between the stations are constructed as double-tracked segmental tunnel (diameter 9,50 m) by shield tunnelling using fluid-supported working face. The underground stations and the ramp structures are constructed in waterproof excavation pits as open excavation stations or in the cut-and-cover technique.

In the area of 'Königsallee' and 'Corneliusplatz' the new city railway line will be connected underground to the existing city railway network in the area of the station 'U-Bf Heinrich-Heine-Allee'. For the connection extensive special foundation engineering and tunnel construction measures are necessary.

Due to the high building density extensive measures of protection for already existing structures need to be executed. These measures range from ground improvement and elevation grouting to interventions in the construction structure. Building in the inner-city area requires complex coordination regarding cable routeing and traffic assignment.

As part of the association of engineers named ”Wehrhahnlinie”, ZPP is commissioned with the project planning in section 3 - civil engineering structures and in section 4 - traffic installations for the service phases 1-7 (basic evaluation, pre-planning, draft planning, approval planning, execution planning, preparation of the contract awarding and participating in the contract awarding process) according to HOAI (Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers). We are also commissioned with the specialist planning in section 1 - structural planning for the service phases 2, 3 and 6 (pre-planning, draft planning and preparation of the contract awarding) according to HOAI.

Furthermore, we provide consulting services for the client and support the client with IT services and the project information and management system INTERPROJECT developed by ZPP.
