Bodelschwingher Bach
Condition assessment and evaluation of the structural stability of the sewer
The Emschergenossenschaft commissioned ZPP with the structural stability evaluation of the piped, approx. 70 to 100 year-old Bodelschwingher Bach (creek).
The structural stability of the sewer in Dortmund-Mengede from km 0,175 to km 1,570 was to be analysed. The sewer progressed through the inner city and, for the most part, in the road space. It shows different materials and two fundamentally different construction methods in the observed segment. One segment was produced via steel concrete construction methodology, while another shows walling and a vaulted ceiling. Throughout though, it is considered to be a rectangular profile. The width amounts to 1,30 to 1,70 m, the height stands at 1,40
to 2,90 m.
The evaluation of the structural stability ensued through the analysis of material samples, the optical inspection and different calculation models.
