PHOENIX Lake
Project and structural planning for the aboveground demolition on the developmental terrain Phoenix Ost
At the start of 2001, the steel production by ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG at the location Phoenix was discontinued. The council of the City of Dortmund decided that the big company grounds (approx. 98 ha) of the former Hermannshütte would be remodelled into residential and commercial areas. The core of this future utilisation is the PHOENIX Lake, with a size of approx. 24 ha.
Up to 2004, a big part of the former work facilities was demolished by the ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG, all the way up to the terrain top edge.
In the sub sequential step, further redevelopmental measures were processed in two sections (2004 and 2008) on the acquisition field 1 north:
_Demolition up to the top edge ground floor slab
_Separation of the materials and pollutant redevelopment
_Structural conditioning of the mineralic material accrued by the demolition
The demolition of the remaining facilities on the acquisition fields 1 south and 6 was processed subsequently (2008 - 2011):
_Demolition up to the top edge ground floor slab
_Separation of the materials and pollutant redevelopment
_Structural conditioning of the mineralic material accrued by the demolition
_Partial demolition of the halls with new construction of gable walls
_Relocation of supply lines
The commissioned service included the project planning, as well as the structural planning. In order to ensure the planning and execution of an economic construction procedure for the PHOENIX Lake, a guideline for the ground management was created.
