Roads and bridges for Berlin

ZPP is planning railway bridges for the gap closure tangential connection east

Disencumbering the east of Berlin from its through traffic is the goal of the tangential connection east, abbreviated TVO (German). For many years, both the northern and southern segment of this traffic route have been in operation as Märkische Allee and Spindlersfelder Straße. Now the existing gap – the segment between the districts Marzahn-Hellersdorf in the north and Treptow-Köpenick in the south – is supposed to be filled.

The new road between the B1/B5 (the Märkische Allee, respectively) and the road An der Wuhlheide (Spindlersfelder Straße, respectively) will be approximately seven kilometres long. Over the course of the to be newly planned segment, several railroad tracks are to be crossed. This ensues both via street and railway crossings.

As part of a bidding consortium, ZPP was commissioned with planning the four to-be-required railway crossings including the traffic installations and the route equipment of the railroad and the rail works, which are affected by three to-be-created road crossings. The client for this important urban infrastructure project is the Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection.
