Lime shaft preheater in Hermalle (Belgium) completed

Standing 40 m high, the shaft preheater in Hermalle was completed by ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions AG. The facility serves the reduction of sulphur with regard to the limeburning process and the saving of energy costs, regarding the production of quicklime.

ZPP was commissioned with the complete structural design of the steel scaffold, including all secondary structures. The complex requirements for the load cut and fill, as well as planning in an earthquake zone required the conception of different special solutions in the area of the girder nodes.

In cooperation with the steel construction company, feasible solutions were found. The predefined, short down time during construction was adhered to, thanks to the well-working cooperation, allowing for the timely resumption of operations.
