Ground-breaking ceremony on the former OPEL area
With DHL, a first global player could be acquired: On 140.000 square metres, a parcel centre is being developed – with 600 workspaces planned. It is the 35th of its kind in Germany and the second DHL mega parcel centre with a sorting capacity of 50.000 parcels per hour. The first ground-breaking ceremony took place on the 21st of August 2017.
Further engineered and innovative sectors are supposed to settle down on the area. MARK 51°7 is a unique lighthouse project and an important component for the future economic appeal of Bochum. With its size, location and connection into the urban and regional infrastructure, the former Opel area is predestined to play a tremendous role for the current area development projects in NRW.
Since 2015, ZPP, as part of a bidding consortium, has been commissioned with the project controlling for all project stages and ranges of action, in accordance with the scope of services by the AHO for the first construction segment. Hereby, the ZPP-developed project information and management system ZPP INTERPROJECT was utilised. Based on the development plan 947 „Opel-Werk I, Teil 1“, sound protection walls with a length of 1,5 km with alternating heights up to 11 m were to be erected within the border of the new construction of the mega parcel centre. ZPP was commissioned with the development of a variant study for the to-be-constructed sound protection measure.
