Structural verification of the natural draft cooling tower

The lignite-fueled power plant Maritza East 1, situated near the City of Galabovo in the south east of the country, in the province Stara Zogaro, is the first big power plant built in Bulgaria for the last 20 years.

ALSTOM received the assignment for the construction of the power plant in double unit execution with a performance of 2 x 300 MW with a contract value of more than 700 million Euros, together with the consortial partner TGO (Tekfen-Gama-Organisation) from the American, global energy supplier AES Corporation.

The facility was activated in 2011 and reaches emissivities underneath the values specified in the EU enactment concerning large combustion plants.

ZPP or the predecessor company was commissioned with the structural verification of the static documents for the natural draft cooling tower (135 m high) by ALSTOM.
Apart from that, construction supervision measures were taken and expert statements for reinstatements and seismic strains, as well prerequisites for the coating of the cooling tower shell were processed.
