District heating power plant Linz-Mitte

Expert statement on the effects of an aircraft bomb detonation

In October 2004 the detonation of a buried 250 kg aircraft bomb occurred during earthworks on the site of the power plant Linz-Mitte in Austria.

The district heating power plant is located in a distance of approx. 120 to 200 m to the location of detonation. The bomb crater had a depth of approx. 5 m and a diameter of approx. 15 m. Construction equipment that was located in the area of the bomb crater and some meters next to it were severely damaged and overturned from the detonation.

ZPP or the predecessor company was commissioned by the VA TECH HYDRO GmbH & Co to provide an expert statement on the effects of the detonation on the annex of the district heating power plant Linz-Mitte.
