Bridge Becklem

Project planning - replacement new construction of the bridge over the Rhine-Herne sewer

The Lambert street is led over the Rhine-Herne sewer through a one-lane bridge structure in the city area of Castrop-Rauxel. Over the course of the widening of the sewer, the demolition of the bridge is scheduled. The two-fielded, existing structure crosses the Rhine-Herne sewer (RHK) with a supporting width of 46,65 m and the Suderwicher Straße (L 628) with a supporting width of 35,65 m.

The bridge was finished in the year 1960. The construction consists of a deck plate-girder bridge over two fields. The carriageway slab is constructed as a composite construction without any prestressing. The existing structure is assigned to bridge class 6 (in accordance with DIN 1072), but due to structural damage, it is limited to 3,5 t.

Over the course of the expansion of the Rhine-Herne sewer, the Wasserstraßen-Neubauamt Datteln commissioned ZPP with the project planning and variant investigations for the replacement new construction of the deck bridge over the Suderwicher street as well as the planning for the traffic installation for the complete structure.

Two structures are scheduled for the new construction of the bridge. A bowstring bridge with approx. 68 m span width will cross the sewer and enable his expansion, while a supplemental bridge structure will span over the Suderwicher street below as a deck bridge with 27 m supporting width. The frames are propped up onto two box abutments and a central pillar.
